Aquarius Lion Productions is a New York City–based independent film company known for its diverse and globally aware storytelling. With over 30 projects under its belt—including feature films, documentaries, and shorts—the company focuses on stories that explore identity, culture, and what connects us as humans. Its work reflects a strong commitment to creating films that resonate across different backgrounds and communities.
Founder of Aquarius Lions, Ahmed Barbary is an Egyptian-born film and television post-production professional currently based in New York City.He serves as the Director of Engineering at Picture Shop NY, a division of Streamland Media, where he leads technical operations for high-profile projects. His recent credits include work on major productions such as The Little Mermaid (2023), The Square (2013), & Free Solo (2018).
Before his role at Picture Shop, Barbary held key technical positions at several prominent post-production facilities, including Goldcrest Post, Sim NYC, and Saboteur Media. His career began as a 3D artist at Pixie Studios, and he later transitioned into post-production supervision roles at companies like Bold Innovative Gigs, O’ Production, and Noujaim Films.
Barbary’s academic background is in computer science, but his passion for film led him to pivot into the motion picture industry. He spent five years working as a post-production supervisor between Dubai and the United States, gaining international experience that has contributed to his versatile skill set.
His diverse filmography includes roles as an editor, producer, and post-production supervisor on acclaimed documentaries and films such as Free Solo, The Square, Hell on Earth: The Fall of Syria and the Rise of ISIS, and The Letter Room . Barbary is recognized for his technical expertise and creative contributions to both independent and studio-level productions.
